Lack of energy

You know, I'm wondering if you haven't caused this problem because of the energy drinks.  Drinking them gives you a "burst" of energy, but when you come down you feel exhausted.  Mike was having them for awhile and that is what happened to him.  He finally stopped using them, felt like crap for a few weeks, but then evened out.  He still feels like he'd like to take a nap most days, but can get through the day and usually will go to bed early if there is nothing on TV to keep his attention.  I believe with him, the energy drinks were like being addicted to drugs and he had to withdraw from them.  Might be something you want to consider.

Well I started taking them at the end of my pregnancy last year and have maybe one a week now if that. Money kind of killed that one. So it doesn't really add up for that to be the cause either. Trust me I have beat my head against the wall on this one for years lol

Ooooo Weeee....Diane may have hit the nail on the head.  You could absolutely be hypoglycemic and without a specialized blood test, the doctors wouldn't know that.  Do as Diane said and try to eat small meals every 3 hours to keep your blood sugars up.  Keep the carbs and sugars low in your choices of food.  Go with proteins and some veggies and fruit obviously. That might just be the problem and adjusting your food and eating patterns just might help.  It's worth a shot anyway.

I'll throw out everything including the kitchen sink...one may click.  Vitamin B-1.  Dr. Coates is recommending now one B Complex pill per day (he was at the Memoral support group a few months back).  A couple of people have come up short in B-1 (Beri Beri).  Also be sure you're getting some iodized salt in everyday...don't go hog wild...but some.  Also potassium rich foods may help; oranges, tomatoes, raisins, spinach, yogurt, broccoli, bananas, avocado.  There is also a multi vitamin I use that has helped me.  It is called Vibe.  It is multilevel marketing (which I can't stand) and it's expensive.  Instead of a 1oz container per day, I will just take about 1/10 on an oz, make them last.  It has given me a lot of energy...But that's just me.  Brian

Sounds like you have tried everything.  You don't really talk about your eating.  Have you tried eating every 3 hours, small meals throughout the day instead of eating larger meals.  You could have a sugar problem too, and no single blood test will tell you that, you need special testing for that.  I take a ton of vitamins, and each day I feel better.  I don't take any "special" pills or drink to feel better, but try to eat several times a day, keep my sugar level up and make sure I take all my vitamins.  I found it funny you mentioned a diet pill.  Stuff like that doesn't do any good for anyone.  It's just a quick boost, because of whatever they might have in them to boost your energy at the time and then you get a drop.  Sounds like no one really has any good ideas for you, sounds like everyone has tried.  Hope you find maybe a better doctor that will give you an answer to your problem.  I know if I can't get a doctor to help me, I will look for one that will, because feeling like you feel isn't normal, even for a weight loss surgery patient.

You are so smart.  I never even thought of the sugar thing.  That could absolutely be Deb's problem.  Hypoglycemia. And without a glucose tolerance test, the doctors wouldn't know it. See, that's why I love ya.  You are just a smart cookie. I think we need a rematch at Wii.  I need to kick some "bootay".  Those guys think they are all so good.

Love ya

That is a good idea to test for that! Can i bring that up to my primary and have them test for it? Wouldn't that be nifty if it can be totally corrected.

Your primary will send you to a lab most likely.  The glucose tolerance test takes like 4 hours.  They take blood from you, then make you drink this yucky stuff and then once an hour for 4 hours they take more blood.

As for correcting it, the only way I know of for correcting it is through diet.  So try the diet thing and see if that helps.  I'm sure if you google hypoglycemia you can find the diet that is recommended for treating it.  It certainly couldn't hurt.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Amen to the rematch, and I will get in on it this time, plus I have a pair of cleaned sweatpants I need to return!  So let's plan this.

Love ya

I do the small meal thing all day but I think I am going to bring up that hypoglycemic and have the dr run a test for it. Couldn't hurt! Ty for the idea!
